Thrive Education Award Application 

The Kindred Life Thrive Education Award is intended for high school seniors who are parenting or graduates of

the Kindred Life program and are pursuing a course of education or vocational training that will help them
become self-reliant. The goal of the award is to help minimize common barriers to continuing education
such as cost of transportation, childcare, rent or lost wages.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1.

If you are a high school senior and a parent: 
  • One, $1,500 award will be given annually to a parenting high school senior each spring and will be paid directly to educational institution.
  • Applicants must be:
    • A student at High School within Kindred Life's Service Area.
    • able to present proof of admission to an institution of higher learning or trade school; and
    • United States Citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • If you are a finalist, a video or in person interview is required for final determination
If you are a Kindred Life Program Graduate:
  • One, $3,000 award will be given annually to a Kindred Life graduate each spring and will be paid directly to the educational institution.
  • Applicants must be:
    • a graduate of the Kindred Life Program
    • able to present proof of admission to an institution of higher learning or trade school; and
    • United States Citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • If you are a finalist, a video or in person interview is required for final determination

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher if you are in high school or a teacher or employer if you have graduated from high school
  • A high school transcript
  • If you are a Kindred Life program Alumni and have taken any college classes, please include the transcript from the most recent school you attended.

All recipients of the Kindred Life Thrive Education Award will be selected based upon the applicant's
  • Potential for success;
  • Financial need;
  • Must be accepted at an accredited college/university/technical school

Award winner's must:
  • Show your child's birth certificate to the Educational Committee Chair. (We will not keep or photocopy the certificate.)
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for award renewal
  • Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and demonstrate completion each semester -or- complete 
  • Commit to a monthly phone meeting with a Kindred Life representative
  • Participate in a promotional video or event
  • Kindred Life Program Alumni will be asked to volunteer once a year
