Nomination Form:                                        2023 Susan B. Clark Leadership Award

New Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Susan B. Clark Administrative Leadership Award, an individual should represent the diversity of the Duke Health community and must meet the following criteria:​

  • ​​​​​​Be an employee within the Duke Health family (i.e. Duke University School of Medicine and Nursing, t​he Private Diagnostic Clinic, or Duke University Health System)

  • Your current position must fit within the definitioin of an "administrative professional". The International Association of Administrative Professionals defines administrative professionals as “individuals who are responsible for administrative tasks and coordination of information in support of an office related environment and who are dedicated to furthering their personal and professional growth in their chosen profession.”

  • ​​​​Started in an entry level position and advanced through the ranks of any institution to a position of leadership and/or significant responsibility within Duke University

  • ​​​​​​​​Current role provides administrative support to executive leadership (Director level or above) in a manner which underpins the effective functioning of a large and/or complex service area within Duke Medicine (roles included but not limited to Business Services Support, Human Resources, Facilities, Event Services, Medical Support Staff, etc.)

  • ​Demonstrated record of excellent performance

  • ​​​5​ years or more of service- 2 years of which are within the Duke University, DUHS, or PDC as a permanent employee 

    • ​​​​​​​​Service does not have to be continuous and may be combined with experience from other institutions/companies

Selection Criteria

All nominations must provide examples of how the nominee has demonstrated the following:

     •   Internal and/or external service to others            
               •    internal and/or external            
               •    may include non-profit organizations, schools, religious organizations, mentoring, and
                    teaching            
               •    include but not limited to volunteering, teaching, and mentoring
     •   Dedication to the institution
     •   Personal strength of character
     •   Acting as a role model to others

Letters of Support

In addition to the nomination form, please include two letters of support from nominee's co-workers(former or current), supervisor/manager (former or current), and/or department head and service organizations external to Duke Health.
