Participant Registration Virtual Afrocentric Summer Mentorship Program 2020 (Deadline July 28)
We at Find Your Path are so excited to announce that this summer we will run our third annual Afrocentric Summer Mentorship Program- with a virtual twist! The program will run for four weeks in August 2020 with live online sessions on Saturdays, August 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. The first day of the program (August 1) will take place from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. All other days of the program will take place from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
This program is intended for youth living in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) ages 12 to 18 (or grades 7-12), though students from elsewhere are still free to register. Through hearing from successful Black leaders, engaging in conversations on Afrocentric themes, and bonding with Black mentors currently pursuing post-secondary education, we aim to increase participants' personal and academic resilience.
Each week, we will focus on a different African principle (e.g. Umoja/unity or Imani/faith) and our discussion of each principle will be grounded in a particular discipline (e.g. art or epidemiology). Weekly Saturday sessions will include an interactive presentation by an influential Black leader from the GTA, followed by group discussions and activities. The second page of this Google Form is a short intake assessment for your child to complete independently so that we can ensure we cater as well as we can to their specific needs.
